The Early Days of Grief: Navigating the Uncharted

In this powerful episode, I sit down with Rachel, a nurse and mom who experienced the heartbreaking loss of her daughter, Tessa, to cancer. Rachel shares with us what those early days of grief were really like, from the raw, difficult moments to the small steps forward she found along the way. Together, we explore how she’s managed to navigate life after loss, the support she’s leaned on, and how she continues to honour Tessa’s memory.

Join us for an honest, heartfelt conversation about finding hope, resilience, and connection in the wake of deep loss.

Rachel Pascas is a registered nurse in Ottawa and have been working in neurosurgery her whole career, 20 years. She had her first daughter in 2017 and her youngest daughter in 2019. Tessa was diagnosed with brain cancer at just 3 months old and she fought so hard for 1 year. Tessa passed away in November of 2020 at 15.5 months old. She went back to work 6 months after Tessa passed away and not long after her marriage fell apart. She lost her husband and his family and a life she thought she would always have. Coparenting is extremely difficult, but she is trying to remain hopeful for the future.
